About me and my books

Erhu Kome comes from the Urhobo tribe and grew up in the great city of Benin, so you could say she has eaten and knows how to cook some of the most delicious foods in the world.

She writes stories filled with magic and sometimes a few stories without magic, which in its own way is sort of magical.

She is particularly proud to be the first Nigerian female author of bizarro fiction which was shortlisted for the Nommo awards for best novella. Her debut YA fantasy novel The Smoke That Thunders has been published in two territories and had its audio rights sold at auction to Recorded Books. The Smoke That Thunders was named a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection, a Tome Society Book Award winner, and an Honor Book for the Children’s Africana Book Awards. It was also listed among Brittlepaper’s 100 Notable African Books of 2024.

Erhu is always looking for the next anime to watch and books that are a little bit odd to read.

She is represented by the Accord Literary Agency.
